Ansaldo Caldaie has been awarded by EEHC, Egyptian Electricity Holding Company, a $ 140 million contract for the supply on EPC basis of a 650 MW gas/oil fired boiler for Suez Thermal Power Plant. The project will be executed in cooperation with local Subsidiary AC Boilers Egypt S.A.E, and the local heavy industry, and is scheduled to be completed by January 2016.
The Suez Project is part of a Governmental long lead development plan currently at an advanced stage of implementation, envisaging the development of Egypt’s economy by use of financing schemes made available by International Financial Institutions like the African Development Bank, the World Bank, the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development and the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development.
With this new contract, awarded after a keen competition against major international boiler manufacturers, Ansaldo Caldaie enlarges its impressive track record in the North Africa and Middle East markets.
Just to mention a few, in Egypt Ansaldo Caldaie has recently completed 2×350 MW gas & oil fired boilers at El-Tebbin Thermal Power Plant and 2×650 MW gas & oil fired boilers at Abu Qir Thermal Power Plant (presently achieving the Commercial Operation), and has been recently awarded a Contract for 2 Heat Recovery Steam Generators for Banha Combined Cycle Power Plant. Worthy of mention is also the contract for 3×2,000 t/h crude oil fired boilers for the Shuaibah IWPP project, Phase III, in Saudi Arabia, recently completed.
In expressing his satisfaction with the award of this contract that reconfirms Ansaldo Caldaie worldwide leading position as boiler manufacturer, the Chairman of the Company, Eng. Giampietro Tedeschi, has declared that “Egypt is a strategic Country for our development activities in Middle East where we are constantly gaining new market shares. We are very grateful to the Egyptian Authorities for their renewed confidence in our Company’s expertise and capabilities”.
The contract was signed on 29 July by Umberto Sarno on behalf of Ansaldo Caldaie, Magdy Mokhtar on behalf of AC Boilers Egypt, and Mahmoud Saad Balbaa, Chairman of EEHC-Egyptian Electricity Holding Company.
H.E. Dr. Hassan Younes, Egypt’s Energy Minister, and Eng. Barbara Lefebvre, Managing Director of Ansaldo Caldaie, were also present.
